Some Nature Way of Curing Acidity

There are numerous number of people who actually suffer from acidity at some point of there lives. It is caused because of overeating of spicy junk food or any other reason. Whatever the reason may be, it can be quite uncomfortable experience and sometimes we are left with no option but to reach out for the bottle of antacid. But, did you know that there are natural remedies that work just as well and don’t leave you with the ill-effects of too much medication? 

1. GOOSEBERRY (AMLA) 

Amla has high amounts of vitamin C that helps in healing the injured stomach lining and oesophagus. Take one teaspoon of amla powder twice a day to keep away the acidity. So ditch that bottle of acid, and try these effective home remedies instead when you are stuck with a problem of acidity. 

2. GINGER

Ginger is a regular ingredient in most the houses. It helps in improving absorption and assimilation of essential nutrients and aids in digestion. It also helps in breaking down the proteins in your food. Ginger also protects your stomach against ulcers by promoting mucus secretion thereby reducing the acid effect on your stomach. You can also chew a piece of ginger for relief. Another trick is to crush ginger, mix it with a small piece of jaggery and keeping sucking on it so that the juice can slowly reach the stomach. 

3. MINT LEAVES (PUDINA)

Mint leaves are being used for ages now as a mouth freshener. This humble leaf has got amazing properties that make it perfect solution to treat acidity. It also reduces the acid content of the stomach and improves digestion. Moreover its cool effect helps to reduce the pain and burning associated with acid reflux. If you feel an attack coming on chop some mint leaves, add them to a glass of boiling water and drink this water after it cools down. 

4. BANANAS

Bananas are high in potassium which is an alkalizing mineral and has a high pH value. The higher the pH value, the lower the acidity, which is why the banana is a formidable antidote for acidity. They also contain a component that makes the stomach lining produce more mucous. This mucous protects the inner lining of the stomach, reducing the damage caused due to acidity. It is high in fibre content, which helps speed along digestion thus reducing the further recurrence of acidity. 

5. COLD MILK

Milk as we all know has high amount of calcium that helps in preventing acid build up and absorbs the excess acid produced which reduces the symptoms. The fact that it is cold also provides instant relief from the burning sensation one feels during acid reflux.
