We all have heard of a proverb that “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”. Now the question is why an apple is the most beneficial fruit of all the fruits. It is the most cultivated fruit in the world and is also known as “miracle food” due to its uses. It is a fruit which is advised by almost all the doctors in this world. Here are some of its benefits that make it miracle food:


1. Whiter Teeth 
An apple is considered as nature’s toothbrush. It does not replace your toothbrush, but chewing it stimulates the saliva in your mouth which helps reducing tooth decay by lowering the bacteria in your mouth. It also makes your teeth look whiter and healthier. Moreover it prevents bad breathing problems too.

2. Weight Loss 

Many harmful diseases are linked with overweight like heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes and sleep apnea. Doctors usually recommend to have a diet enriched with fibre. Apples are fibre enriched and can satisfy your hunger for a few calories. As per a recent study, women who had dried apples daily for about a year shed some pounds and reduced their cholesterol.

According to a series of studies performed by Cornell researcher Rui Hai Liu, there has been growing evidences that an apple every day can help prevent breast cancer. Liu also added that "the growing evidence that increased consumption of fruits and vegetables, including apples, would provide consumers with more phenolics, which are proving to have important health benefits. I would encourage consumers to eat more and a wide variety of fruits and vegetables daily." 

4. Antioxidant 

Apples contain polyphenols which work as antioxidants. The ability of apples to decrease the oxidation of cell membrane fats makes them strong. This is beneficial for us especially in cardiovascular system as oxidation of fat in the cell membranes is a primary risk factor for clogging of the arteries and other problems associated with cardiovascular. The antioxidant quality of apples also helps reducing the risk of asthma and lung cancer.

5. Curb all Cancers 

As per the scientists from the American Association for Cancer Research, intake of flavonol-rich apples helps reducing the risk of pancreatic cancer by up to 23 per cent. Apples also contribute in reducing the risk of colon cancer and lung cancer. The peel of an apple contains potent anti-growth activities against cancer cells in the lever, colon and breast.

6. Healthy Heart 

Consumption of apples is also linked with the health of heart. As per a study conducted over 28 years on 9,208 men and women, it was found that those who ate apples regularly had lowest risk of suffering strokes than those who did not have any apples. It is the antioxidant quality of the apples which helps preventing LDL cholestrol from oxidizing and inhibits inflammation. Also the fibres in apples which are soluble have also been linked with lower cholesterol.

7. Cure Diarrhea and Constipation 

Apples help beating diarrhea with the help of the fibers found in them. The fiber can pull water out of your colon to keep the things moving. These fibers soak the excess of water that is present in your stool which slows down your bowels. Apples have got numerous benefits and it is truly said that an apple a day keeps the doctor away. You can be healthy and fit and can avoid many health problems by just having an apple a day.
